John Stroup Feirstine was born in Dayton on February 11, 1876. After going through the public schools he answered the call to the soil and became a farmer. Later he retired from the farm and returned to Dayton where he followed various forms of employment until appointed patrolman on the police force January 26, 1903. Mr. Feirstine is married, his family consisting of his wife, Mary, and two sons, George and Russell. He and his wife are members of Memorial Reformed Church, and Mr. Feirstine is identified with the I. O. O. F. and K. of P. lodges and the Order of Owls.
